At ADCO, we love the American Institute of Graphic Arts (AIGA). And we don’t mean just a little bit. We mean, we’re really involved. Our art director, Jennifer McSwain is the Membership Chair, and one of our graphic designers, Janie Williamson, is the Secretary. So let’s just say that we’re pretty plugged in to the SC Chapter.
So you can be sure that no one is more excited about tonight’s event than us. Tonight at the South Carolina State Museum, the SC AIGA will welcome Stefan Sagmeister, one of the most influential graphic designers out there. He will be discussing his newest book, Things I Have Learned in my Life So Far, among other riveting topics.
In case you’re interested, here’s a little about Sagmeister. He was born in Austria and now lives in New York City; he has done work for all things printed, including posters, brochures and books. He’s also worked on graphics and packaging for music clients like Lou Reed, the Talking Heads, and the Rolling Stones. Sagmeister’s award-winning work has been recognized pretty much everywhere.
Paola Antonelli, senior curator of architecture and design at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, once described Sagmeister’s work by saying, “Stefan is a razor-blade wielding, gracefully brutal, always surprising master of communication – the Johnny Depp of the design world.”
We think he rocks, too. So, if you’re creative or you like to hang out with creatives, show up tonight at 5:30 for networking hour or at 6:30 for Sagmeister.
This event is free for AIGA Members, $20 for non-member professionals and $10 for non-member students.
