Our own Lora Prill, ADCO VP of Marketing/Partner, recently shared some of the lessons we’ve learned with the Columbia City Group of the Legal Marketing Association.
Here’s what Jessica Todd of the McNair Law Firm and Morgan S. Lewis of Nexsen Pruet took away from it:
This past month, the Columbia City Group invited Lora Prill, Vice President of Marketing with ADCO, to give a presentation titled “Tips, Tools & Trends for Overcoming Your Marketing Hurdles.” The presentation was well attended and Prill highlighted several best practices that are useful. Below are three:
- Using effective character limits: Character limits for blogs, press releases and headlines create effective and concise content for the reader to easily grasp. It grabs attention and entices the reader to read more. Prill mentioned in her presentation that the best headlines are comprised of just 6 words. Readers read the first 3 words and the last 3. Tweets are best between 71-100 characters as this keeps the tweet clear and concise and does not cut off at an inappropriate place.
- Developing a communications guide: This communications guide, like a social media policy, helps maintain the integrity of your brand. You are able to define how to say things on social media, blogs, press releases. It will also help to provide templates so that your brand is consistent.
- Marketing your firm on social media and manage online profiles: Pay attention to SEO and the character limits when posting or releasing communications. This will help maintain integrity and keep the firm top of mind. A communications and style guide will help branding stay consistent and maintain momentum in regards to your branding.
