ADCO is full of movers and shakers. In fact, many of our fabulous team members are involved in organizations throughout the community. You’ve heard of our involvement in AIGA, JDRF, AAF, and CHPRMS, but the list doesn’t end there.
The newest addition to our ever-growing list is Social Media Club Columbia (SMCC), and we’re thrilled to be a part of this great group of people.
Social Media Club is organized for the purpose of sharing best practices, establishing ethics and standards, and promoting media literacy around the emerging area of Social Media. Learn more about Social Media Club Columbia at smccolumbia.com.
Our local chapter of Social Media Club launched in February, and the group held its first official meeting last night. The turn-out was excellent, and the discussion insightful!
To begin the evening, our very own Jessica Cook, Director of Internet Marketing and member of the SMCC steering committee, gave a brief “in plain English” introduction to Twitter, answering questions like: What is Twitter? What makes it so special? How do people use it?
Her opening talk quickly sparked discussion that was all about Twitter. Clearly, that’s the form of social media that gets people chatting. Questions came from all around the room, and the panel of social media users (members of the SMCC Steering Committee, including Jessica) fielded them, sharing knowledge, tips, tricks, and general thoughts on all things Twitter, from search to etiquette. It was quite a discussion! A full wrap-up of the March meeting is available at smccolumbia.com. For those of you who want a brief introduction to Twitter from Jessica, visit MidlandsBiz.com.
All of us are looking forward to next month’s SMCC meeting, on Thursday, April 23, from 6-7:30 p.m. Mark your calendars now, and stay tuned for more information.
