Lora and I had to leave CHPRMS early this morning to make a client meeting so we didn’t get a chance to go to any of the final day’s sessions. But we did have a delightful time at the Wallie Awards Gala last night.
We all got gussied up in our best clothes. Brian, Lanier, Lora, me–all of us were very fancy indeed. The gala began with dinner and then transitioned into the awards ceremony.
The meal at the gala was the best I’d had since we’d arrived (not counting the delicious shrimp and grits I had at Tupelo Honey–yummy). The company around our table was just delightful. We dined with some of the great folks from Park Ridge Hospital and from CarePartners, and our conversation was full of laughter. Thanks especially to Amy Fowler from CarePartners who sat beside me and kept me laughing throughout the meal!
The most amazing part of the night was the awards ceremony. We were thrilled, ecstatic, and overwhelmed by what happened. The Baby Place campaign we created with and for Park Ridge Hospital won nine awards, including “Best of Show.” Billboards, newspaper ads, direct mail, TV, website, social media, campaign–they were all recognized. It was so exciting!
We were, of course, overjoyed that Jodi Grabowski, Marketing Director at Park Ridge, had the honor of walking to the stage nine different times to accept her awards. I feel sure that everyone in the room was shooting her angry looks out of jealousy, but she didn’t care. She accepted the awards from Brian (who, as Wallies Chair on the CHPRMS Board, was giving them out) with pride. Another yay for Jodi!
Quite frankly, after the dinner, awards ceremony, and after party, we were all exhausted and ready to tuck in for our last night at the beautiful Grove Park Inn.
All in all, I think the event was a great success for the four of us. Lora, Brian, and Lanier have been going for years, but this was my first time, and I have to say that I really enjoyed myself. Nice people, interesting sessions, beautiful location. Not too bad at all.
