The denizens of ADCO had a treat last week — we finally got over to client Robinson Gray’s impressive new digs in the BullStreet District development.
If you’ll recall, the law firm moved there from the Vista at the end of August when their innovative new building, WestLawn, was completed. That is, the top two floors to be occupied by Robinson Gray were ready. W0rk continues on lower floors, even as impressive amounts of construction continues all around the new building.
Here’s part of what we wrote about the move at the time:
COLUMBIA, S.C. – The future has arrived, which means a new beginning for Robinson Gray Stepp & Laffitte – and for Columbia.
Last week, Robinson Gray moved to WestLawn, the BullStreet District’s newest office building and the first mass timber commercial building in Columbia. Featuring 79,000 sq. ft., WestLawn is the largest of its kind in South Carolina.
Created in partnership with Hughes Development Corporation, master developer of the BullStreet District, WestLawn gives Robinson Gray the room it needs for future expansion with an office layout that enhances workflow and collaboration and elevates client services. The firm occupies the top two floors, including a private rooftop terrace on the fifth floor.
The building’s mass timber construction uses a renewable resource that adds texture and warmth, while reducing the structure’s carbon footprint. There are currently fewer than 400 large mass timber buildings in the United States, according to The New York Times.
WestLawn was designed by globally-renowned architectural firm Perkins&Will in collaboration with Robinson Gray. The interiors feature exposed wood ceilings and a system of steel columns and beams in innovative sculptural forms. WestLawn utilizes 10-foot-plus windows to maximize natural light and includes gigabit-speed internet….
You may also have read about it on the front page of The State:
You can’t deny the progress currently happening at Columbia’s BullStreet District….
And in the middle of that swirl of activity, a longtime Columbia law firm is stepping into the future in the newest building on the BullStreet site.
Robinson Gray Stepp & Laffitte, a decades-old Columbia firm that specializes in litigation, business and other areas of the law, recently moved into the newly constructed WestLawn building, which is located just west of Segra Park, near the BullStreet Starbucks and REI stores. The law firm occupies the expansive fourth and fifth floors of the building. There will be retail space available on the first floor, and the remaining floors will be office space….
And finally, we who have had the privilege of helping to promote these developments made it over there to take a good look around. Pictures, in this case, are better than words. Here’s some of what we saw:
After the tour, Director of Marketing Janie Langdale — that’s the blonde lady in black — treated us to lunch at Publico. No, not the old one in Five Points, but the new one in BullStreet. It’s right next to the ticket windows at Segra Park. This, of course, was before Opening Day, so we were able to get good seats on the terrace.
We enjoyed the visit, and you can expect some of us to return soon to the neighborhood — once there’s baseball going on…
