If you’re not sleeping in Saturday morning, you might want to listen to Weekend Edition on NPR. ADCO’s Brad Warthen taped an interview over at S.C. ETV Radio with Don Gonyea this morning about the 1st Congressional District special election.
That is, it was sort of about the 1st Congressional District special election.
Earlier in the week, Brad got a call from the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation wanting to interview him about that race, and he begged off, saying he hadn’t been following it closely enough.
When Brigid McCarthy called from NPR, he told her the same. But she said what they really wanted to do was talk about Mark Sanford.
That Brad could do, having written voluminously about the former governor over the past decade and more — mostly for The State, although he covered Sanford’s famous confessional press conference of June 2009 for The New York Post.
The interview went a little beyond Sanford, but not much. It’s actually a fascinating race, with 16 candidates (count ’em; sixteen) seeking the GOP nomination (and two on the Democratic side, including Stephen Colbert’s sister).
Tune in Saturday at 8 a.m., if you’re up.
