And now we can celebrate the wide acceptance of the campaign (which was created by guess who) at the official Famously Hot New Year's Eve party: Get excited because this New Year's Eve, the biggest, most exciting event in the Southeast is the Famously Hot New Year celebration on South Carolina's Main Street in the heart of Columbia, South Carolina. This is not your grandmother's family get-together, unless of course, your family likes to party. With beer, wine, and champagne vendors, an ESPN Zone playing the college bowl games, a Palmetto Tree and Crescent moon display during the midnight countdown,...

EngenuitySC just drew our attention to this, from a forward-looking Brit publication: Columbia Named a Top "City of the Future" fDi Magazine, a London-based publication for foreign investors, has named Columbia, SC to its "American Cities of the Future" 2011-12 rankings. Columbia made the top ten lists for both "Small Cities of the Future" and "Small Cities Quality of Life." Review all the rankings here. We didn't make the Top 10 overall, or the Top 10 Major Cities. Nor did we make the Top 10 Latin American cities, in spite of all those illegal immigrants Doug and others keep worrying about. But we...

Last week, we had a great event at the Ndoki Lodge at the Riverbanks Zoo to talk about "Famously Hot" with some Midlands mayors and other local dignitaries. Lanier addressed the group, and everyone listened politely before going back to the free food and drinks. Oh, and excuse the quality of the photo. It was taken with a Blackberry. If it had been taken with Lora's iPhone, it would have been way better...

We are extremely proud of the work we have done -- and continue to do -- for the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports & Tourism and the Famously Hot campaign. We love it, and we love it when other people love it too. It's always gratifying when your hard work is recognized by your peers. It's particularly gratifying when it comes from someone with such a distinguished career as Kevin Fisher. Recently, Kevin wrote his opinion of the campaign, and ADCO, in the Free Times. My favorite line: "ADCO emerged as the winner, appropriately so in my view based on...

Check this out! You know you've arrived when your work is the subject of an editorial cartoon. We love The State's award winning cartoonist, Robert Ariail and encourage him to discover the many hot spots in our great city (in case he really thinks the only thing hot about Columbia is the temperature).

You've been waiting for months to know what would replace "Where Friendliness Flows," and we're proud to announce that your wait is finally over. The new campaign for the Midlands Authority for Conventions, Sports, and Tourism (MACST) is...drum roll please... This campaign theme--Famously Hot--will be incorporated into all of the MACST's marketing efforts, which will target regional and national convention planners, sports event planners and leisure travelers. The campaign theme was selected because it's unique, differentiating and attention grabbing. It takes Columbia's legendary heat and puts a powerful twist on it, referring to our happening nightlife, sizzling cuisine, fiery music...

2020 marks 30 years of ADCO. But we weren't always ADCO as you know us today. Originally founded as The AD Company in 1990 by Brian Murrell, Lanier Jones and Craig Houston, the name ADCO wasn’t around until April, 2008. Back then, our agency focused on media buying and design. And while we still do design work, billboards, branding and print work, we’re so much more than that in 2020. Where ADCO is now. So what are we up to today? We sat down with Brian to ask how he has seen the company change from the day The AD...
