Secretary Bobby Hitt is back at work at the Department of Commerce, after having fallen seriously ill before Christmas. That’s good news.
Meanwhile, if you go to Commerce on the 16th floor of 1201 Main, you can see Bobby whether he’s in or not. That’s because of the big, remarkable likeness of him hanging in the hallway.
It’s another of Kirkland Smith‘s remarkable “trash portraits.” We don’t know how she recycles junk into such strikingly photographic images of prominent figures (Mayor Steve Benjamin, her husband Rep. James Smith, Marilyn Monroe), but we’re impressed.
